Police search Apple Daily offices in Tseung Kwan O

Scores of police entered the Apple Daily building in what seems to be a raid on the pro-opposition newspaper, following the arrest of its founder Jimmy Lai under the national security law in the morning today, RTHK reports. Television footage showed dozens of police officers entering the building in Tseung Kwan O.Steve Li, a senior superintendent of the police national security department, was also at the scene. In a tweet, a colleague of Lai’s said police were executing a search warrant and had entered the news room located on the second floor of the building. The footage that was being beamed from inside the newsroom showed policemen going through some documents on desks. In a social media message police said seven local Chinese men aged between 39 and 72 were arrested this morning on suspicion of “colluding with foreign forces to jeopardise national security and conspiracy to fraud”.
