Police warn against providing false information in documents

The police have warned the general public against violating quarantine regulations and providing inaccurate information for documentation processes. Speaking to ‘Derana Aruna’ this morning (06), the police spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana said legal action can be instituted against such persons under the Quarantine and Prevention of Diseases Ordinance. Recording false details in documents given to them in light of the situation that prevails in the country can be considered as forgery, he said. The police spokesperson noted that five-year imprisonment can be sought against any person who does so, for ‘cheating by personation’, in violation of Article 399 of the Penal Code.
