A new club for a fast-growing racquet sport is open for bookings in Slough. Padel tennis (or padel), a sport that originated in Mexico, is a doubles game played on a slightly smaller tennis court that was later popularised in Spain after the late 1960s. Founder Charles Winterton was a semi-professional tennis player who, with his partner, came across padel at a Spanish tennis club 10 years ago. When COVID halted progress on the venture, Charles started teaching padel at the Fairmont Windsor Park hotel, but following a bad winter, he decided to open an indoor club. The Padel Hub had a soft launch on Friday, September 1, and will host an official open day for the facility on Thursday, October 12.
