Multi-agency detectives have arrested more than 30 people at the Mombasa port over diversion of goods and tax evasion. Mombasa Port police boss Kiprono Lang’at said the suspects will be charged once investigations are completed. Four suspects are being held for the loss of a machine, which belongs to the port fire station. Among those arrested are KPA officials Joshua Misoi, Hamisi Hamad Mwaragash, Spana Musa Chinyao, Benard Otieno, Dennis Kosgei and Kamau Makau. This comes after KRA Commissioner General John Njiraini said they lost Sh100 million in 104 containers irregularly removed from the port.
