Power outages hit Luzon anew

For the second straight day, the Luzon grid grappled with thin power supply on Tuesday, resulting in rotational brownouts, this time lasting for about two hours. Energy Assistant Secretary Redentor Delola said the insufficient power supply will not affect the government's rollout of vaccines against Covid-19. The 647-MW Sual Coal-Fired Power Plant Unit 2 is expected to resume normal operations by the third week of June. The MLD is implemented during power supply shortages by cutting off electricity in areas served at a specific time. Delola said the Energy department expects Luzon's power supply to normalize by next week.
