Power returns in parts of Dhaka after grid failure

Power returns in parts of Dhaka after grid failureLights have begun to flicker back with electricity gradually being restored after large swathes of Dhaka were left without power for about two hours following a grid failure in Rampura. The Power Grid Bangladesh PLC (PGCB) said it had started to resume power supply at 11:45pm on Sunday. Earlier, a technical glitch at the Rampura grid had disrupted electricity supply to several connected grids at 9:41pm on Sunday. According to PGCB and Dhaka Electric Supply Company Limited (DESCO), the issue occurred at the Rampura grid. DESCO’s public relations office reported that the fault in the 230kV section of the Rampura super grid has disrupted power supply in several grids under DESCO’s jurisdiction, including the Bashundhara 132/33kV grid (partially), Purbachal grid, Banani grid, Aftabnagar grid, and Gulshan grid.
