The Premier League is launching a direct streaming service in Asia in a move which could have seismic consequences for the long-term future of football broadcasting. Singapore will be the first country to experience a direct-to-consumer service called Premier League Plus next season, skipping the need for traditional broadcasters. Fans will watch keenly for the pricing of the streaming service due to the spiralling costs of subscribing to several networks. 'So from next season onwards, Premier League Plus – rather than Premflix – finally, it’s going to happen. It feels inevitable that if the model is a success in Singapore, then the Premier League will look at rolling out Premier League Plus more widely; Masters admitted last year that the football broadcasting world must change.
