Presidential decree approving Egypt's accession to TIR Convention


CAIRO – 25 February 2021: The Egyptian Gazette published, Thursday, the presidential decree No. 396 of 2020 regarding approval of the accession of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Customs Convention on the International Transport of Goods under Cover of TIR Carnets (TIR Convention) s signed in Geneva on November 14, 1975, and the declaration regarding reservations on paragraphs 2 to 6 of Article 57 of the agreement. TIR Convention is a multilateral treaty that was concluded at Geneva on 14 November 1975 to simplify and harmonise the administrative formalities of international road transport. The 1975 convention replaced the TIR Convention of 1959, which itself replaced the 1949 TIR Agreement between a number of European countries. The conventions were adopted under the auspices of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).
