Princess Beatrice has paid tribute to her parents for helping her to see dyslexia as an opportunity rather than a hindrance. The Duchess of York also penned a series of children's book, Budgie The Helicopter, to help her daughter feel close to Prince Andrew while he was away with the RAF. Beatrice spoke out as she was announced as the patron of Oscar's Book Prize, established in memory of the son of journalist James Ashton. The award for the best children's book for the under fives published in 2016 was set up to honour his love of stories. On a school visit in 2014, she told students: "Dyslexia is not a pigeonhole to say you can't do anything."
