The palace said: "Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting a baby in autumn of this year. It was designed by Sir Norman Hartnell who was also behind the Queen's wedding dress and the outfit for her Coronation in 1953.
