A prisoner died at Jamalpur District Jail on Saturday morning. The deceased was identified as Sultan Sheikh (40), who had been serving a two-year sentence in a narcotics case. He was suffering from respiratory complications and a skin disease and had earlier received treatment at Jamalpur General Hospital. In morning, his condition reportedly worsened due to severe cold, prompting jail authorities to take him to Jamalpur General Hospital, where doctors on duty declared him dead. Confirming the incident, Acting Superintendent of Jamalpur District Jail Imtiaz Zakaria said necessary legal procedures would be completed following a post-mortem examination before handing over the body to the family.
