The Philippine market opened the trading week in the negative territory as it succumbed to profit taking on Monday. The local bourse opened at its high of 6,801.36 and fell to its intraday low of 6,758.09 before closing slightly higher. Managing Director Luis Limlingan said investors took profit as they went back to the US market "after the May nonfarm payrolls report showed a less-than-expected gain." Total value turnover stood at P3.7 billion on Monday, which Mangun said shows that investors are beginning to be cautious again. Total volume turnover was at 1.86 billion shares valued at P4.19 billion.
