Connecticut Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy on Wednesday officially took his name out of the running in the 2020 presidential race, slightly thinning a herd of progressive White House hopefuls that is expected to rapidly become a stampede. "I’ve been pretty transparent about this, but let me be 100% clear: I’m not running in 2020," Murphy wrote on Twitter. Murphy was easily re-elected in last year's midterms, and campaigned fiercely against President Trump's agenda across the board. “He’s got strong supporters here in Connecticut,” Murphy said, referring to Trump, at the only debate held in the 2018 Senate race in Connecticut.
