CHENNAI: The Greater Chennai Corporation has collected a total of Rs 2,040 crore as property tax for the financial year 2025-26 as of Tuesday evening. At the start of the financial year, the civic body had set a target of Rs 2,020 crore which was later revised to Rs 2,300 crore in the revised budget estimates this year. The deadline to pay property taxes without a fine ended on Tuesday. The collected taxes this year was also lower than the Rs 2,200 crore the corporation collected in the corresponding period last year. With regard to professional tax, the civic body collected Rs 594 crore this year as compared to Rs 550 crore last year.
