more-inThe call for a march towards the State Secretariat by the members of the Joint Action Council of Teachers Organisations-Government Employees Organisations (JACTO-GEO) led to a huge traffic pile-up in several arterial roads in Chennai on Saturday. As a result, traffic in several areas such as T.Nagar, Adyar, Mylapore, and Triplicane was thrown out of gear. A number of private buses carrying the protesters were seen turning in toward Kamarajar Salai and Anna Salai. Many vehicles were parked near the Light House area, and the protesters took to the streets, making it tough for the police to regulate the traffic flow. JACTO-GEO resorted to a demonstration after being irked by what it called an inordinate delay by the Tamil Nadu government to address the welfare issues of its employees.
