HOUSTON—Lines of hundreds of mourners moved quickly through the Fountain of Praise church where George Floyd rested in a casket lined in blue. Some came from as far as Fort Worth, Texas, Denver and Seattle. It was the first time they had driven across the country for a stranger’s funeral, they said, but this death had touched a nerve. Many said they came because they are mothers, fathers, sisters and cousins of young African-American men and saw Mr. Floyd’s killing as something that could have happened to any of them.
