The New Plymouth emergency shelter on Beach St is in desperate need of funding in order to keep its doors open. A shelter for homeless men has been saved from closure until at least the end of July, thanks to public donations. A week ago, New Plymouth Emergency Shelter Trust chairman Peter Coles warned the shelter would have to shut if more funding for its operating costs wasn’t found.
