Queen Elizabeth death: What does it mean for New Zealand?

Queen Elizabeth II has died aged 96 and tributes are flowing in for the longest-reigning monarch. This will continue until after a New Zealand State Memorial Service, which is expected to be around the tenth day following her death. New Zealanders will have opportunities to pay their respects to Queen Elizabeth in the coming days. Lord Freyberg proclaimed "the High and Mighty Princess Elizabeth Alexandra Mary to be Queen Elizabeth the Second, by the grace of God, Queen of this Realm and of all her other realms and territories, Head of the Commonwealth, defender of the faith". The New Zealand flag will be flown at half-mast at public sites until the New Zealand state memorial service.
