According to royal protocol, unmarried couples are not allowed to stay at the Queen's residences. An insider told The Sun that it was "totally inappropriate" of Mr Johnson to have brought his girlfriend along. The PM visited the Aberdeenshire castle - where the Queen spends every summer - nd had dinner with the head of state. It was the first time a Prime Minister has brought an unmarried partner to stay.
