QuickCheck: Were antiquities from the British Museum sold on eBay for a fraction of their value?

THE BRITISH Museum prides itself as the worlds' first national public museum, housing some eight million objects from across various eras and cultures. The antiquities from the museum, some of which were valued for as high as £50,000 (RM290,000), were allegedly sold for as low as £40 (RM230). The matter was subsequently closed, prompting Gradel to send another email, which was later forwarded to museum chairman George Osborne. In October 2022, a fresh probe was initiated, after which the British Museum announced that a staff member was fired in July this year. In the aftermath of the scandal, museum director Hartwig Fischer announced his resignation, which the board of trustees accepted.
