According to the Department of Health, it is estimated to be between 0.8 and 1.0, compared to between 0.7 and 0.9 last week. The health department said that a UK-wide estimate of R rate has not been agreed by Sage this week. The R rate measures the number of people an infected person passes the virus on to. If it is above one, it means the virus is growing and if it is below one, the virus is shrinking.
