"Detective Branch of Police will soon handover Samrat to us after which we will investigate the cases against him," RAB (legal and media wing) Senior Assistant Director Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan said on Thursday. On October 6, RAB arrested Samrat, and his accomplice Arman, from the Chauddagram upazila of Comilla, over their alleged involvement in illicit casino operations. RAB Executive Magistrate Sarwoer Alam sentenced Samrat, under the Wildlife (preservation and security) Act, to six months in prison for keeping two kangaroo hides in his possession. Due to his sickness, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shorafuzzaman Ansari fixed October 15 for the remand hearing, which was initially scheduled on October 9. On Tuesday, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court remanded Samrat for 10 days in the two cases and was kept in Detective Branch's (DB) custody.
