Lemaitre acted as the RCMP’s spokesperson immediately after Polish immigrant Robert Dziekanski was Tasered and died at Vancouver International Airport in 2007. However, an inquiry into Dziekanski’s death concluded Lemaitre didn’t know some of the information he had given reporters was inaccurate. “He was in agony,” said Atoya Montague, who was a civilian member of the RCMP from 2002 to 2017. RCMP, testified that the force issued a formal apology to Lemaitre and gave him back his position as media-relations officer. “Training supervisors is mandatory,” said Nemetz.
