Nadal won a thrilling final against Novak Djokovic 7-5, 1-6, 6-3. It is the Spaniard’s 10th title in Rome and the fourth time that Nadal has beaten Djokovic in the Italian Open final. Nadal took the first set 7-5 after finally breaking but Djokovic took control of the second set, breezing past Nadal 6-1. There was a first-set scare for Nadal when he tripped over the lines nailed into the clay surface.
