Around 70 canteens have been readied so far and the remaining 55 would be up and running by August 15. Countering mounting criticism that Indira Canteens had been built on parks and playgrounds, Mr. Siddaramaiah told mediapersons here on Saturday that not a single notified park or playground had been used to build a canteen. The Chief Minister, who inspected several development works in the city, said those opposing Indira Canteens were not concerned with the plight of the poor.
