Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday (January 28, 2026) broached the topic of a power sharing arrangement in Tamil Nadu with DMK parliamentary party leader Kanimozhi Karunanidhi during their meeting in New Delhi, sources from both parties confirmed. *To his query about the Rajya Sabha seat, the DMK leadership conveyed it was already part of the agreement between the two parties [as was given in 2021]. A Congress MP from Tamil Nadu said Ms. Kanimozhi was the “best person” to hold talks with Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi [she was not part of Wednesday’s discussions] because of her proximity with the two leaders. But, he added: “The DMK leadership was not ready to understand a very important issue faced by the Congress. We were unable to get a berth even for late Prime Minister Manmohan Singh from Tamil Nadu.
