80 lakh additional revenue per dayNew DelhiThe Indian Railways, on Sunday, claimed that its surge pricing experiment has had a good beginning, with around 50,000 tickets being booked on higher fares in Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Duronto trains on September 9 and 10. He said 30 per cent of the tickets booked in Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Duronto trains were ‘flexi-fares’ tickets on Friday and Saturday. “In the highest fare segment, 2,700 tickets were booked on September 9 and 3,200 tickets on September 10,” Mr. Jamshed said. 80 lakh additional revenue per day in the first two days of the launch of the new system. “The additional revenue that we will generate will be reinvested in upgrading trains and stations and to offer better passenger amenities,” he said.
