A Status Yellow rain and snow warning is set to begin in Cavan, Donegal, Connacht and Longford at midday today and will continue until midnight with wintry conditions due to persist for days to come. There will be some treacherous conditions, with the ice, followed by that heavy rain and possibly sleet and snow in the Northwest as well." Meawhile today, while cold, dry and bright now, cloud will thicken from the west through the afternoon, with rain following towards the evening. There will be highest temperatures in the early afternoon of 2C to 6C before turning milder in the southwest. Looking ahead to the rest of next week, there will be unsettled conditions with further spells of rain and showers.
