The committee also came to the conclusion that there was no findings against the officer to deny him the promotion. Bhushan also pointed out that Rakesh Asthana was working with Sterling Biotech as Assistant Manager between 2010 and 2012. "There has not been a single complaint against him in his long career which is unblemished. Interestingly, CBI director, who was part of the committee, also place a confidential note against Asthana. The committee, however, did not get influenced by the note as it was not verified and allegation was levelled at the last moment when the decision was to be taken. The committee has also noted the decisions of the courts in respect of such documents," the committee said while recommending the name of Asthana for the post of special director of CBI.
