The government approved the death penalty as the highest punishment for rape last October, amid waves of anti-rape demonstrations across Bangladesh. On Saturday, eleven people were arrested over rape cases in Jamalpur, Magura, Comilla, Rajbari and Bogra districts. Later, Masud was handed over to police while the girl’s father filed a case, confirmed Goaland Ghat police station OC Abdullah Al Taybir. Raju raped the 14-year-old, and Nayan attempted rape on the 13-year old while Nisha assisted them.
