An added attraction of Rath Yatra 2023 will be a huge paper lantern to be released into the sky to mark the start of the festival on June 20. This is the first time he has been commissioned for Rath Yatra. According to Ghosh, a Jagannath idol was installed at Shib Mandir in 2016, and Rath Yatra was started in 2017 when a devotee gifted them a 12-ft chariot.
