Read AlsoRead AlsoVeteran actor Ratna Pathak Shah, known to be extremely vocal when it comes to issues plaguing the industry, recently opened up on the lack of opportunity during her time and how the star system ruled the roost.In an interview to a leading news portal, the Lipstick Under My Burkha actor said that at that point, the star system was so deep rooted in the industry that even brilliant actors did not get their due. Citing the example of Deepti Naval, the 65-year-old said that inspite of being such a wonderful actor, Deepti struggled to find the right roles. The Thappad actor even went on to add that at that point, only four actors namely Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri, Shabana Azmi and Smita Patil were popular and were offered the best roles.The Kapoor & Sons actor further went on to say that even stalwarts like Supriya Pathak and Pankaj Kapur could not get their due, inspite of them picking up so many non commercial movies too.Ratna Pathak Shah will soon be seen in her debut Gujarati movie Kutch Express. The movie, directed by Viral Shah also stars Manasi Parekh, Dharmendra Gohil, Darsheel Safary and Viraf Patel among others.
