United have opened talks with Real Madrid over Varane and, according to The Sun, the Spanish club have discussed the possibility of signing Van de Beek on loan as part of the deal. Former Netherlands international Rafael van der Vaart, for example, said last month: ‘He fit perfectly into the Ajax system, but he doesn’t fit at Manchester United. ‘He fit perfectly into the Ajax system, but he doesn’t fit at Manchester United,’ Van der Vaart told ESPN.
