For the third consecutive year, Nigeria has suffered death of citizens due to Lassa fever infection. According to the World Health Organisation, an estimated 100,000 to 300,000 infections of Lassa fever occur annually, with approximately 5,000 deaths. Among the 413 confirmed and the nine probable Lassa fever cases then, 114 deaths were reported. By February 10, 2019, 37 new confirmed cases, including 10 deaths were reported from nine states across Nigeria.
