Of those lost, 3143 Air Force members have no known grave for their families to mourn beside. Through the decades, in conflict, peacekeeping, search and rescue, disaster relief and humanitarian assistance, Air Force developed a reputation within our nation and among our global partners for courage, perseverance and overcoming adversity, consistently delivering air power well above the weight of an Air Force our size. Our future force will look very different from the traditional air power of our past 100 years; because it must – the changing world demands it so. However, the one constant that has endured over the past 100 years and will remain embodied in the future generations of Air Force is the incredible innovative skills and tenacity of our people. Today Air Force members and veterans will mark this important milestone in every State and Territory and across many locations overseas.
