In a statement released on Saturday, the office categorically denied reports suggesting that the Regional Minister was backing the Ayawaso East Constituency Chairman or any other aspirant contesting the parliamentary slot. Supporters of Hajia Amina Adam, widow of the late Member of Parliament, reportedly hooted at the Regional Minister during her visit to the area. The hostility was fueled by allegations from some party supporters that the Minister was supporting the Ayawaso East Constituency Chairman, Mohammed Ramne, who is among the aspirants seeking the party’s nomination. The Ayawaso East by-election was necessitated by the death of the sitting Member of Parliament, Naser Toure, whose passing created a vacancy in the constituency.
