Rehda: Loans should be for below RM500,000 homes - Business News

PETALING JAYA: The Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association Malaysia (Rehda) wants the proposed “moneylender licences” for eligible housing developers be capped at properties below RM500,000 to assist first-time homebuyers and genuine upgraders to afford homes. FD Iskandar added that the bridging financing via the moneylending licence should not be limited to just first-time homebuyers. Noh said he had briefed the Cabinet on the matter and explained that allowing developers to offer loans was an existing policy. Meanwhile, FD Iskandar noted that not all developers had the capacity to offer loans of up to 100%. Rehda said launches of properties below RM200,000 experienced a hike, with all states retaining their prices except for Malacca.
