A retrial in a high-profile Halifax murder case won't be held until January of 2023 as Nova Scotia courts struggle to work around restrictions imposed because of COVID-19. William Sandeson is facing a second trial on a charge of first-degree murder in the August 2015 death of Taylor Samson. Sandeson was found guilty following a jury trial in 2017, but that conviction was overturned on appeal. There are currently no jury trials underway in Nova Scotia because of gathering limits. Two other murder trials were also scheduled during Thursday's call.
