Retired presidents, according to the Presidential Retirement Benefits Act, 2003, are entitled to fuel, entertainment, a house allowances and a monthly pension. This is to cater for the gratuity for retired Chief Justice David Maraga and other state officers who exited office this year. In March, MPs voted to increase pension perks paid to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka. Treasury data further shows Amani leader Musalia Mudavadi was enrolled in monthly pension payroll in effect from April 2014. He has continued to receive a monthly pension to date, currently at Sh214,691 factoring increases every year.
