By the time the final fan had squeezed into the east London club, the quintet had torn through seven songs. Two sweat-soaked hours later, they hit the 50 mark. Like the late Mark E Smith, Pollard is a prolific workaholic who has steered his band through umpteen incarnations, restlessly releasing about 100 albums, including two this year.
