The Seattle Seahawks and Atlantic Falcons kickoff today at 4:35 P.M. in their NFL Divisional Playoff game. Although the Falcons are favored in this game by 4 1/2 points, America, as a nation, has more to gain from a Seattle Seahawks victory than it does from a win by the Falcons. The reason for this is because Seattle cornerback Richard Sherman has mastered the art of using the media attention that arises from his on-field success as an opportunity to discuss America's need for social change. Few NFL players have been able to use their star status as a forum to advocate for political change. Nevertheless, the Seahawks' Sherman is one of the few players who is accomplishing just that.
