Part of the challenge that Conservatives face in articulating a national vision is that we have lost a clear conservative social vision. Some are dubbed “social liberals” — people who share the social vision of liberals. Others are dubbed “social conservatives” — people whose priorities apparently revolve around one or two very hot-button issues. But the vast majority of everyday conservatives are neither social liberals nor social conservatives in the ways that these terms are usually defined. If Conservatives want to win, then we can no longer offer a conservative economic vision without a conservative social vision.
