The A181 has been closed in both directions between Wheatley Hill Service Station and Salters Lane at Wingate since shortly before 11am this morning. ‌The North East Ambulance Service has confirmed that two people have been taken to North Tees Hospital in Stockton, and two more were discharged at the scene. ‌In a post on Facebook, Durham Constabulary said: "The road is closed between Wheatley Hill Service Station and the Salters Lane junction at Wingate (both directions) owing to a collision whilst emergency services deal with the incident. Please avoid the route - an update will ensue once the scene is cleared and road is reopened."
