I love watching TV, but I don’t own a television. In my studio apartment, there was never the need for it. Bingeing “The Crown” on an iPad in bed seemed sufficient—a luxury even. Until the pandemic, that is, when all I wanted to do was change from my day sweatpants to my night sweatpants and watch whatever the streaming algorithms fed me, all the time. And I wasn’t alone: This year, Nielsen reports video streaming increased more than 74% from last year.
