The Blues are in the market for a new central defender having been frustrated in their attempts to sign defender Jules Kounde from Sevilla this summer. Alessandro Bastoni and Milan Skriniar were the two players whom Lukaku is said to have recommended as being ideal options in the position for the Blues. The central defender has been capped seven times by the Italian national team and was part of this summer’s Euro 2020 winning squad, including starting the group victory against Wales. The 26-year-old has amassed 170 first-team appearances for the Nerazzurri and has also become a key member at international level with Slovakia, whom he helped to this summer’s Euros.
