Two volunteer officers of the coastguard rescue teams based in North and West Lewis have been presented with Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Medals for their service. Donald Macrae, Station Officer at Bragar Coastguard Rescue Team where he has served for six years, and Alec John Bell, a Coastguard Rescue Officer of 16 years at Ness Coastguard Rescue Team, both earned the award for having served more than five years at the time of the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee. Kayleigh said: “Donald and Alec deserve their medals for their years of dedicated volunteering with HM Coastguard. “It’s a lifesaving role that puts you in a closeknit team learning new skills and making a difference.”
