While attending a funeral service on Friday 8th of September, 2023, the deputy president Rigathi Gachagua reiterated his stand against the ongoing bipartisan talks between the Azimio and Kenya Kwanza sides. During the funeral, Gachagua called out the National assembly leader, Kimani Ichungwa, urging him to stop involving himself with the ongoing bipartisan talks. Kimani Ichungwa has been one of the crucial leaders in the bipartisan talks. Ichungwa alongside Kalonzo Musyoka have been the leaders who are driving the Bipartisan Talks with Ichungwa being a Kenya Kwanza representative and Kalonzo being an Azimio representative in the talks. Meanwhile, while defending his decision to urge Ichungwa to stop involving himself with the ongoing bipartisan talks, Gachagua noted that the Azimio leader Raila Odinga wasn't serious with the talks.
