Russia’s Evgenia Kolodko stripped of shot put medal from London 2012 after stored samples test positive

RIO DE JANEIRO — For the third time in a week, Russia was stripped of a track-and-field medal Saturday after another athlete tested positive in a reanalysis of doping samples from previous Olympics. Evgenia Kolodko was disqualified and stripped of the silver medal in the women’s shot put from the 2012 London Games after her stored samples came back positive for two banned substances, the International Olympic Committee said. Kolodko was one of 98 athletes caught in the retesting of more than 1,000 samples from the London Olympics and 2008 Beijing Games. The IOC said Kolodko tested positive for the steroid turinabol and ipamorelin, which is classified as a peptide hormone on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s list of banned substances. Russia lost the silver in the 4×400 after Anastasia Kapachinskaya tested positive, and gold in the 4×100 after Yulia Chermoshanskaya failed a test.
