It said the Russian guard acted within his duties when he tried to check the identification of a person entering the embassy. The video shown by the NTV channel follows a Washington Post column reporting that a U.S. diplomat was beaten up by a Russian guard outside the embassy. A state-owned Russian television station showed a video Thursday of what it claims was a brawl between an alleged U.S. spy and a Russian security guard at an entrance to the American Embassy in Moscow. The Russian Foreign Ministry has identified the man as an undercover CIA agent and claimed that he was returning from an intelligence mission.
