'Russian secret service' behind terrifying 'parcel bombs' sent to UK warehouse

A terror plot involving self-igniting parcels sent across Europe has been linked to operatives believed to be working on behalf of Russia's secret service. Cops launched the probe after a number of parcels exploded in the UK, Germany and Poland, causing damage to postal services transporting the packages. Detectives later identified 22 people in Lithuania and Poland believed to be acting on behalf of Russia's military intelligence service. In July 2024, four parcels were sent from Lithuania to addresses in the UK and Poland. Eurojust launched and funded a joint investigation comprising of detectives from the UK, Germany, Lithuania, Poland and the Netherlands to catch the group and prevent future attacks.
